How to Patch Holes in Sleeping Bags

Don't let a small hole in your sleeping bag lead you to ditching it. Here's our quick guide to patching holes in your sleeping bag.

What You'll Need:

  • Tenacious Tape Patches
  • Scissors
  • Mild Soap
  • A Rag

Clean the area: Begin by cleaning the area around the hole using mild soap and water. Make sure to remove any dirt, debris, or oils that might interfere with the patch adhering properly. Rinse the area thoroughly and let it dry completely before proceeding.

Assess the damage: Evaluate the size and location of the hole in your sleeping bag. If it's a small hole or tear, you can typically repair it yourself. However, if the damage is extensive or if the bag has structural issues, you may want to consider professional repairs or replacement.

Cut the Patch: Cut the patch to fit the hole with about an inch of overlap in every direction. We recommend rounding the edges to make the patch last longer.

Apply the Patch: Smooth out the area to avoid wrinkles, then press the patch into place with your fingers. It will take about 48 hours for the patch to fully cure, so be gentle with it!
